Healthy Laptops and CPU Reduction

While the hardware recommendations in https://support.nvplay.com/hc/en-gb/articles/1500003016681-System-and-Hardware-Requirements are the recommended specifications needed to run NV Play Pro Cricket Scorer/Play-Cricket Scorer Pro for different purposes, ideally users will get the most powerful laptop they can afford to exceed these specifications. Despite this, even powerful computers need good care and can experience CPU issues while live scoring, capturing video, and live streaming, depending on the operating environment and usage. So, here are some more recommendations to maintain a healthy laptop and reduce CPU load:

  • Regularly install all Windows Updates, especially before match day, so that these are always up-to-date
  • Regularly check the manufacturers website for any device driver updates, especially for Display Adapters (graphics cards), as Windows Updates may not include these immediately
  • Always use a hardwired internet connection where possible, as a WiFconnection can be unreliable
  • A minimum dedicated network upload speed of 10 Mbps is recommended, but ideally this can be faster. At a minimum we recommend twice the bitrate set in Live Streaming Configuration if streaming
  • Always have the laptop plugged into mains power while scoring and streaming
  • Do not have the live stream playing in a web browser (i.e., YouTube or Match Centre) on same computer capturing video
  • Do not run other applications on the laptop while scoring and streamingjust NV Play Cricket
  • Choose the Windows 10 High Performance plan
  • Clean the laptop's fans and vents and ensure these are well ventilated while scoring/streaming
