Prompt Overview

The End of Over prompt appears after the last fair delivery of an over is recorded. It asks if you are sure you want to end the over.

Scorers should use this tool to visually confirm that their scoring in the NV Play Cricket for Windows software matches the actual state of play.

How to Use It

To use the End of Over prompt:

  • If the over has ended, click Yes or press Enter on your keyboard.
  • If another ball is about to be bowled, click No to continue scoring.

The prompt will keep appearing after each ball until you click Yes to end the over.

Turning the Prompt On or Off

By default, the prompt is enabled. To change this setting:

  1. Click the cog icon in the top-right corner of the Play Control panel. The Scoring Options menu opens.
  2. Tick the Auto End Over option to bypass the prompt. The prompt will no longer appear at the end of each over, and next over will start immediately after the last fair delivery is recorded. When unticked, the prompt appears after each over.

Auto End Over Behaviour

When Auto End Over is enabled (Scoring > Scoring Options > Auto End Over, or from the cog settings menu on the Play Control panel):

  • The first ball of the next over is automatically created, using the current bowler from that end.
  • If Confirm Bowler prompts are enabled (that is, a checkbox other than None has been selected from the Bowler Confirmation Prompt section under Tools > Configuration > Scoring), the scorer will be asked to select the bowler before the next over begins.

To score an extra delivery in the previous over:

  • Use the Undo button on the Play Control panel to return to the prior over and record the delivery using the Scoring panel.
