Collaborative Capture automatically creates ball clips on the Video Analyst's machine from the Live Scorer's Start Ball and End Ball timestamps. The Video Analyst does not need to start or end each ball clip manually.
The setup involves two roles. The Live Scorer (who may be the Replay Screen Operator) scores each ball, and the Video Analyst sets up the cameras and capture.
Live Scorer: use two-click scoring
Collaborative Capture uses the Live Scorer's Start Ball and End Ball timestamps to set the start and end of each ball clip. To record both timestamps, the Live Scorer uses two-click scoring.
- Go to Scoring > Scoring Options and turn off Auto Start Ball.
- For each delivery, click Start Ball as the bowler runs in.
- Click Score Ball when the ball is complete, and enter the outcome as normal.
When Auto Start Ball is on, no separate start timestamp is recorded, so clips cannot be timed correctly.
Video Analyst: configure video inputs
Set up one stationary camera behind the bowler at each end, and give each input a fixed pitch end.
- Go to Tools > Configuration > Video Capture > Multi-Cam Video Settings.
- For the first end's camera, set Fixed Pitch End to the end it films from, for example North.
- For the second end's camera, set Fixed Pitch End to the opposite end, for example South.
Both inputs must have a Fixed Pitch End set. Without it, the software cannot tell which camera covers the current bowling end.
Video Analyst: enable Auto Switch Ends
Auto Switch Ends changes to the correct camera at the end of each over, so each ball is clipped from the camera behind the bowler.
- In Multi-Cam Video Settings, tick Automatically switch cameras at the end of each over.
- Click OK to save your settings.
For details on multi-camera setup and Auto Switch Ends, see: Multi-Camera Setup and Streaming.
Video Analyst: enable Collaborative Capture and start capture
- Go to Scoring > Scoring Options and turn on Auto Start Ball.
- Go to Video > Collaborative Capture and turn it on.
- Go to Scoring > Auto Score from Live Scorer and turn it on. See: Auto Score from Live Scorer Feature.
- Click Start Live Capture in the Video Timeline panel to start continuous capture.
From now on, each time the Live Scorer clicks Start Ball and Score Ball, a ball clip is created automatically on the Video Analyst's machine from those timestamps.
Ball clip timing depends on the Live Scorer clicking Start Ball and Score Ball at the right moments. If clicks are late or missed, clips may be mistimed or missing. Check clips in the Ball by Ball table and re-clip if needed.
Optional: hands-free coding with Vision AI
For a fully hands-free experience, run the Vision AI Engine alongside Collaborative Capture. Vision AI processes each ball clip as soon as it is created, and all enabled coding points are shared with every connected user, without any input from the Video Analyst.
Vision AI requires the Vision AI Engine feature licence to be enabled on your NV Play Cricket account, and the Vision AI components must be installed on the Video Analyst's machine.
Video Analyst: start the Vision AI Engine
- Check that Vision AI is enabled in Tools > Configuration > Vision AI.
- Click Start Vision AI in the bottom-left corner of the Video Display panel.
Coding results appear in the Ball by Ball panel, and the Vision AI column shows a tick for each processed ball.
