Pitch Map Line and Length Measurements

This guide is for high-performance analysts and other users interested in understanding how line and length measurements are used in the Pitch Map.

Line measurements

Lines are measured from the centre of the middle stump, which is set at 0.000 metres. The measurement scale adjusts depending on whether the batter is right-handed or left-handed.

Length measurements

Lengths are measured from the base of the stumps at the batter's end, which is defined as 0 metres.

Separate length zones apply for:

  • Pace bowlers
  • Spin bowlers

Each zone is calibrated to account for the differences in delivery style and typical bounce behaviour.
