Using Keyboard Shortcuts

To make scoring easier and more efficient, we provide multiple input methods, including keyboard shortcuts, in the NV Play Cricket for Windows software.

The following keyboard scoring options are always active:

On some computers, you may need to hold the Function (Fn) key or another control key while using these shortcuts.

Basic Scoring Shortcuts

  • 0 (or .), 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 - Runs scored off the bat (not for 7, 8, or 9)
  • w & 0 - Wide
  • w & 1 - Two wides, w & 2 - Three wides, etc.
  • n - No ball
  • n & 1 - No ball + 1 run to the batter, n & 2 - No ball + 2 runs to the batter, etc.
  • n, l, or b & 1 - No ball + 1 leg bye or bye, n, l, or b & 2 - No ball + 2 leg byes or byes, etc.
  • l & 1 - 1 leg bye, l & 2 - 2 leg byes, l & 3 - 3 leg byes, l & 4 - 4 leg byes
  • b & 1 - 1 bye, b & 2 - 2 byes, b & 3 - 3 byes, b & 4 - 4 byes

Penalty and Wicket Entry

  • p - Opens the Penalties dialogue (use the Tab key to navigate, arrow keys to select, and press Enter to confirm)
  • x - Opens the Wicket dialogue (use the Tab key to navigate, arrow keys to select, and press Enter to confirm)
  • m - Opens the Broadcast Message dialogue (for match cloud users to communicate)

The up/down arrow keys can also be used on batter and bowler confirmation prompts.

Over and Match Management

  • o - End over before six legal deliveries (or any over if Auto-End Over is OFF)
  • Delete, Escape, or Ctrl+Z - Undo Ball/Over/Action
  • Spacebar - Start Ball and End Ball (if not in Auto-Start Ball and/or Auto-End Ball mode, press Escape to delete)
  • Spacebar - Score 0 runs (if in Auto-Start Ball mode, regardless of Auto-End Ball mode setting)

Editing and Navigation

  • F2 or Insert - Enter/exit Edit mode
  • F4 - Return cursor to the "Next Action" button (e.g., Record Toss, Start Play, End Ball)
  • F5 - Open video playback for last ball
  • F6 - Open video playback for current/last over
  • F7 - Open the Match Scorecard (view, save, print, or email)
  • F8 - Open the Match Scorebook (view, save, print, or email)
  • F11 - Enter/exit Full Screen mode (hides top two rows of match details and menu bar)

Video Playback Shortcuts (Full Screen Mode)

  • Down Arrow - Pause
  • Up Arrow - Play
  • Left Arrow - Move backward frame-by-frame
  • Right Arrow - Move forward frame-by-frame
  • < - Skip to previous clip
  • > - Skip to next clip
  • Escape - Exit Full Screen mode
