Winning and Score Predictor (WASP) is a calculation tool designed to predict scores and potential outcomes in 20 Over and 50 Over matches.
For the team batting first, WASP predicts the likely final total. For the team batting second, it estimates the probability of a successful chase. These predictions are based on average team performance under similar conditions, not solely on the current match situation.
In addition to match predictions, WASP is also used to measure player performance during the match, helping teams gain actionable insights in real time.
Benefits of running WASP
- Provides accurate score predictions to inform coaching and strategy.
- Offers performance measurement for players during live matches.
- Integrates directly with NV Play, linking data with video for deeper analysis.
- Automates calculations, saving time and improving consistency.
- Enriches live stream overlays and Replay Screens with dynamic, real-time score and result predictions, automatically and with no additional operator input.
Installation
WASP requires SQL Server Express LocalDB to operate. Follow these steps to install LocalDB and complete the WASP setup in NV Play:
- Close any open match and fully close NV Play for Windows.
- Download the LocalDB installer from SQL Server Express LocalDB (SqlLocalDB.msi).
- Run the downloaded file SqlLocalDB.msi, and follow the prompts to complete the installation.
- Launch NV Play for Windows. NV Play will detect that LocalDB is installed and prompt you to install WASP. Follow the on-screen prompts to finish the installation.
Once complete, WASP will be ready for use within NV Play.
Enabling WASP
WASP is enabled and operated via the Score Summary panel in NV Play.
Navigate to the Score Summary panel and locate the WASP (Winning and Score Predictor) section. Enter a Par score to begin calculations:
- In the first innings, WASP uses the Par score to calculate a projected batting total.
- In the second innings, WASP uses the Par score to calculate the win probability percentage.
The Par score is typically calculated by an analyst or coach and passed to the scorer for entry. Once entered, the WASP value is calculated automatically. No further configuration is necessary: once a Live Stream is started or output to a Replay Screen is configured, WASP details will be displayed automatically.
