This guide explains the functions and features of the Score Summary panel which provides an overview of the current state of play and is customisable depending on the match format.
Scroll to the bottom of the page to view a video summary of the functions described in this guide.
General Overview
The Score Summary panel is typically located in the top-left corner of the NV Play Cricket for Windows interface when using a default Scoring view (View > Scoring - Default or View > Scoring - All Coding).
The Score Summary panel shows:
- Team names, current score, wickets lost, overs bowled, and previous innings totals (clickable for review).
- Toss result in the first innings; current state or runs required in later innings.
- Additional match details that are particularly useful for professional users. This information varies according to match type and the innings (see below for details).
To adjust the layout of the panel to show more (Full) or less (Compact) information:
- Click the cog icon in the top-right corner of the panel.
- Click Compact or Full in the layout menu that opens.
Click on any underlined text on the panel to edit the details shown.
Much of the information shown on the Score Summary panel is also shown on internal/external scoreboards, and the Match Centre; especially those items with input/edit links.
Panel Information (Limited Overs)
Information shown under the right columns of the Score Summary panel includes:
First Innings (Limited Overs)
- Last Wicket: Score when the last wicket fell.
- Last Five Overs: Runs and wickets over the last five overs.
- Power Play: Runs and wickets in the current Power Play (if applicable). When the Power Play has ended, this field changes to N/A.
- Run Rate: Current runs per over.
- WASP (Winning and Score Predictor): Enter a WASP Par score to calculate the projected batting score (first innings) and the win probability percentage (second innings). The Par score is usually calculated by an analyst or coach and given to the scorer for entry. The WASP Value is automatically calculated based on the Par score entered.
- 6/Over, 8/Over, This Rate: Projected totals for the batting side if scoring continues at six, eight, or current runs per remaining over.
- DRS: Edit number of decision reviews permitted/left per team, if being used.
- Over Rate: Shows required vs. actual overs bowled. The difference between the target and actual overs entered is shown.
- Cut-Off: Enter time, in 24-hour format, by which overs must be completed by the bowling side. This value can be edited at any time during play at the request of the umpires to allow for breaks in play.
- Overs Rem: Overs remaining, automatically calculated or amended for interruptions via the DLS (Duckworth Lewis Stern) window.
Second Innings (Limited Overs)
-
WASP: Shows win probability for the batting side. Click to edit the WASP Par score value.
- DLS Par: Click to open the DLS par score table from the Duckworth-Lewis-Stern Par Score Table dialogue. Displays the Par score after the last delivery.
- Comparison: Shows runs/wickets ball by ball compared to the first innings.
- Req Rate: Run rate that the team batting second must meet or exceed to win.
Multi-day Matches
In multi-day matches, the information shown on the right of the Score Summary panel reduces to only two columns.
These columns add the following information:
- Sessions: Runs scored and wickets taken so far in the current session. Typically, there are three sessions in multi-day matches: morning, afternoon, and evening. These are normally divided by lunch/tea breaks. This value replaces Power Play in the centre column.
- Overs Rem: This text link changes behaviour in a multi-day match. When clicked, this opens the Edit Overs Remaining dialogue, which is used to adjust the number of overs left in the day (Overs Remaining in Day), and the follow-on deficit (Follow-On Deficit) set by default per MCC laws for the length of match. In the last innings of a multi-day match the Edit Overs Remaining dialogue also displays an Overs for Final Innings field, used to calculate the required run rate for the final innings.
