Opening, Closing, and Deleting Matches

Some tasks—like finding and opening a match, closing a match to open another, or removing matches from your local database—can seem simple but are essential to a smooth user experience.

This guide shows you how to complete the following:

Open a match

To open a match you've already started:

  1. Go to File > Open Match.
  2. In the Open Match dialogue box, use the default Date range (which shows matches between today and two months ago) or update the date range using the calendar icons.
  3. Select a match from the list and click the Open for Scoring dropdown arrow.
  4. Choose the required role (or Open Read Only).

  5. The match opens in the main interface with the selected role at the right hand end of the status bar.

To open a match over a local network (for example, as a connected reader), go to File > Open Match from Local Network. For more help, see the  Reader connection guide (the "Instructions for Direct Readers" document).

Advanced match opening options

When opening a match there are several advanced options available to you. These can be used to select match date ranges, local or server match data locations, and video footage upload/streaming/download actions. These are described below:

Date Filters

Use the filters along the top of the Open Match dialogue box to narrow the list of matches. You can also select from preset time periods or seasons by clicking the menu icon next to the second date’s calendar icon:

Local or server matches

If you want to open only local matches (those that haven't been uploaded to the server), tick Local Data Only (top right). This is ticked automatically if you’re not logged in.

To access server matches, click Connect to Server to log in.

Latest match and video options

Before opening the match, you can also select various options using the checkboxes in the bottom right corner of the Open Match dialogue:

  • Tick Download Latest from Server to ensure you’re opening the most up-to-date version of the match. If prompted, click Continue and type CRICKET to confirm overwrite.
  • Tick Capture/Edit Video to record video for the match.
  • Tick Live Video Upload to upload clips as highlights during the match (requires an internet connection).
  • Tick Download Video Now to download video from the server immediately, before opening the match (see details below under Download video footage).

Your Capture/Edit Video and Live Video Upload settings can be changed after a match is opened using Video > Capture/Edit Video and Video > Live Upload options.

Download video footage

If you select the Download Video Now checkbox before opening a match, the Download Video from Server dialogue box opens. Use this to select video to download:

  1. Choose from the available video types by ticking the checkboxes. Defaults to all encoded video.
  2. Click the Download all video radio button to download all video.

  3. Click the Download selected players only radio button to download video only for selected players, then hold down the Shift key to select a range from the list, or the Ctrl key to select individuals.

  4. Click Download Now to begin downloading. The Video Sync Status dialogue box opens to show download progress. Here you can click Stop All Transfers to cancel the download after the current clip finishes, or Continue in Background to minimise the status box to the bottom status bar.
  5. Alternatively, click Download in Background to start the download directly, minimised to the status bar. You can then single-click the status bar countdown to re-open the Video Sync Status box at any time:

You can also download video after opening the match by going to Video > Download Video Now.

Close a match

To close a match:

  1. Go to File > Close Match.
  2. The main interface closes and return to the NV Play logo screen.

Delete a match from the local database

To delete a single match from your local database:

  1. Go to File > Delete Match. The Delete Match from Local Database dialogue box opens.
  2. Locate the match you want to delete. Use the filters at the top of the dialogue box to narrow the range, if required.
  3. Select the match you want to delete from the list.
  4. Click Delete. When prompted, click Yes to confirm the action.

To delete multiple matches from your local database:

  • Hold down the Shift key to select a range, or the Ctrl key to select individual matches from the list.
  • Click Delete. When prompted, click Yes to confirm the action.

Only matches in the local database can be deleted. Matches uploaded to the server still exist there. To remove a match from the server, contact your system administrator.
