Creating a New Match Type

Match types correspond to specific playing regulations. Using the correct match type simplifies the scoring process and ensures consistency with official formats.

To create a new match type in your local database:

  1. Go to Tools > Edit Database. The Edit Database dialogue opens.
  2. Click the Match Types tab.
  3. Click the New button at the bottom of the screen.
  4. Type a description that clearly identifies the match type (e.g., "50-over club match", "U19 T20 Cup") into the Description field. The text you type into this field is duplicated in the Display Name field.
  5. Edit the text in the Display Name field if the description is too long, in which case use a shorter version.
  6. Open the Club/Organisation dropdown menu and select the club or organisation that the match type will be used by.
  7. Open the Format dropdown menu and select the game format of the match type. Most matches will use the Standard format.
  8. Update the other fields on the Match Types tab to match the required playing regulations.
  9. Tick the Countdown box if the match type counts the number of balls remaining rather than overs (e.g., 100-ball formats).
  10. Check that the Share on Server? box is unticked.
  11. Click the Save button (highlighted in yellow) to save the match type in your local database, and then click Close to exit the Edit Database dialogue.
