Scoring Configuration Options

NV Play Cricket for Windows can be configured before matches begin to meet your specific scoring workflow and display preferences.

Configuring Scoring Preferences

To adjust these settings:

  1. Navigate to Tools > Configuration > Scoring. The Scoring Configuration dialogue box opens.
  2. Enable (ON/ticked) or disable (OFF/unticked) the options as needed.
  3. Click OK to save your changes and exit.

Scoring Options

Below are the settings available within the Scoring Options section of the Scoring tab:

  • Use B and L for Byes and Leg Byes in Scorebook
    • OFF: Uses a triangle for byes and an upside-down triangle for leg byes instead of 'B' and 'L'.
  • Use Player Colours in Scorebook
    • ON: Displays each player's batting and bowling analysis in different colours.
    • OFF: Displays all entries in black.
  • Show All Balls Faced in Scorebook Batting Analysis
    • ON: Includes dot balls (.) or 0s in this view (see below).
    • OFF: Displays only runs scored.
  • Include Ball Numbers by Default in Scorecard Notes
    • ON: Shows the over.ball number alongside any scorecard note.
  • Print Full Colour Wagon Wheels
    • ON: Wagon Wheels will print in full colour.
    • OFF: Prints in black and white.
  • Show Keeper Up/Ball Edit/Key Moment Column in Play Control
    • ON: Displays these three buttons in the Play Control panel.
    • OFF: Hides these buttons.
  • Use Detailed Fielding Events Pop-Up
    • ON: Double-clicking a fielder's name in the basic Fielding panel opens a pop-up for additional fielding data coding.
  • Use 0 for Dot Balls in This Over/Scorecard Analysis
    • ON: Uses 0 instead of a dot (.) in 'This Over'. If 'Show All Balls Faced in Scorebook Batting Analysis' is also ON, this applies to the Scorecard/Book Analysis.
  • Omit Initials from Wicket Descriptions
    • ON: Displays only a player's surname in dismissal information (excluding initials).
  • Suppress Scoreboard Updates in Edit Mode
    • ON: Prevents scoreboard updates while in Edit Mode until manually exited.
  • Show Remaining Batter as "Did Not Bat" in Scorecard/Scorebook
    • ON: Marks all non-batting players with "Did Not Bat" notation.
    • OFF: Leaves these players blank.
  • Show Shirt Number in Striker and Bowler Dropdowns
    • ON: Displays a player's shirt number before their name in dropdown lists.
    • OFF: Displays only surnames.
  • Order Fielders by Shirt Number in Bowler and Fielding Dropdowns and Panels
    • ON: Orders bowler and fielders by shirt number (lowest at the top, highest at the bottom) in dropdown lists and panel lists.
    • OFF: Orders bowlers and fielders alphabetically by name.
  • Default to "Local Data Only" in Stats Wizard/Player Averages/Match Results Even When Logged In
    • ON: Uses only local match data, even if different from the server version.
  • Default to Players from Last Scored Match if Team is Empty When Downloaded
    • ON: Automatically pre-populates teams with players from their previous match when creating a new one.
  • Prompt to Specify Resumption of Play When Session/Innings Breaks Commence
    • ON: Automatically prompts users to specify the time play will resume at session or innings breaks.

Bowler and Batter Prompts

These prompts can be configured to match your preferred behaviour:

  • Bowler Confirmation Prompt:
    • None: Never prompts.
    • First Two Overs of Each Innings/Session: Prompts only at the start.
    • Every Over: Prompts for confirmation at the end of every over.
  • Batter Confirmation Prompt:
    • None: Never prompts.
    • Assume Unknown: Opens the prompt manually after clicking 'Set Batter'.
    • Every Wicket: Prompts only at the fall of a wicket.
    • Every Wicket and Innings Start: Prompts at every wicket and for both opening batters at the start of an innings.

Sound Settings

The Play Sound when Ball Scored option can be configured as:

  • None: No sound.
  • System Sound: Plays a default system sound (ensure volume is not muted).
  • Bat on Ball: Plays a bat-on-ball sound (ensure volume is not muted).
