Customising the Software Layout

The NV Play Cricket for Windows software's scoring layout is highly customisable, allowing you to adapt it to your personal scoring preferences and workflow.

The main layout consists of individual panels, each serving a specific function. These can be repositioned, permanently removed or temporarily hidden, and resized as needed. Your personalised layout can then be saved for later use.

Scroll to the bottom of the page to view a video summary of the functions described in this guide.

Default Interface Layout

In the default layout (View > Scoring - Default), you will see several core panels, including:

Each panel is labelled with its name in the title bar. To the right of the title, you will also see some or all of the following buttons:

  • A cog icon: Click the cog icon in the top-right corner of a panel to open a configuration menu specific to that panel.
  • A pin icon: Click the pin icon to enable auto-hide mode for the panel. This will hide the panel but add a quick-access tab to the top-right corner of the interface. Click the quick-access tab to show the panel again and click outside the panel to automatically hide it when not in use.
  • An 'X' button: Click the X button to remove the panel from the interface. You can return any removed panel to interface by clicking the View menu item, then selecting a panel category (Scoring Entry, Scorecard Data, Scoreboard, Video or Stats and Graphics), then the name of the panel you want to add. For example, to return the Ball by Ball panel if you removed it, go to View > Scorecard Data > Ball by Ball.

Repositioning Panels

To customise the default panel layout by repositioning panels:

  1. Click and hold the title bar of a panel with your left mouse button.
  2. Drag the panel to the required position in the software interface while holding down the left mouse button.
    • As you drag the panel a blue box highlights where the panel will be moved if you release the mouse button.
    • On the top, bottom and sides of the interface, edge icons appear. Drag the panel to any of these icons to move the panel to the edge of the interface. When released, the panel will be moved to the selected location and take up most of the space there.
    • As you drag the panel over an existing panel, a 'cross' icon is displayed. Drag your mouse to the top, bottom, left or right icons in the cross to place the panel to the left, right, top or bottom of the current panel when you release the mouse button. If you hover over the centre of the icon, the two panels will occupy the same space when the mouse is released (and use tabs to switch between them).
  3. Release the left mouse button and the panel is moved to the new location.

To separate two panels that have been nested together, right click on a tab and select Float or drag the tab with your mouse.

Resizing Panels

To resize a panel:

  1. Hover the mouse over the panel border until the pointer changes to a double-headed arrow.
  2. Hold down the left mouse button and drag the border in the desired direction.

Saving Your Layout

When you are happy with your panel selection, their positions and size, you can save the layout for later use:

  1. Go to View > Save Layout As. The Save As dialogue opens.
  2. Type a layout name into the File Name field.
  3. Click Save. The layout is saved on your computer and added as a layout option under the View menu.

Reset Your Layout

  • Reset to the default panel layout by going to View > Reset to Default Layout then clicking Continue in the dialogue that opens.
  • Reset the the last saved layout by going to View > Reset to Last Saved Layout then clicking Continue in the dialogue that opens.
