Outputting Score Overlays to Third-Party Software

For more advanced live streaming setups, you can use NV Play Cricket software to output streaming overlays to third-party software like OBS or vMix. These overlays show live match information such as scores, wickets, and player stats that update live with each ball.

These graphics can be sent as transparent overlays to be used over an external video source, or combined with full match video provided by the NV Play Cricket software.

For details on how to live stream directly from NV Play Cricket, see: Live streaming instruction videos.

Set Up Overlay Output to Third-Party Software

Before you begin, make sure all devices are on the same local network. This ensures the overlays can be shared between NV Play Cricket and your third-party software.

To enable overlay output:

  1. Go to Tools > Configuration. The Configuration dialogue opens.
  2. Click the Live Streaming tab.

  3. Tick the Enabled checkbox in the Live Streaming Service section.
  4. Open the Streaming Service dropdown in the Live Stream Configuration section and select NDI with Alpha Channel
  5. Type a name in the Stream Name field, if needed. This step is optional.
  6. Click OK.

When prompted:

  • Click Yes to output only the transparent overlay
  • Click No if you want to include the full video from NV Play Cricket in the stream

Start the Overlay Stream

To send overlays to your third-party software:

  1. Click Start Live Stream button in the bottom left corner of the Video Display panel.

If the Start Live Stream button is not visible, click the settings cog icon in the top right of the Video Display panel and then tick the Show Live Streaming Controls menu item.

  2. Streaming is now active. Your video panel should look similar to the example below. Your third-party software (such as OBS or vMix) will now detect NV Play Cricket overlays as an NDI input. Consult your third-party software's user guide for instructions on adding NDI sources to your scene layout.
