In addition to the Auto Replay feature described in the previous page, NV Play Cricket also includes an Auto Capture mode. This mode automatically generates and saves video clips of each delivery, or of specific key moments (fours, sixes, wickets and milestones), without the need for additional manual steps.
Unlike Auto Replays, these clips can be replayed into the video stream at any time, or used to create highlights packages. These packages can be played during breaks (for example, during the lunch break) or saved locally and used for post-match reviews with coaching staff. You can also upload highlights packages to social media, to club or personal websites, or to the Match Centre.

Enable Auto Capture
To enable the Auto Capture feature:
- Go to Tools > Configuration. The Configuration dialogue opens.
- Click the Video Capture tab.
- Click the Capture Every radio box in the Auto Capture section.
- Select the events that will trigger automatic video clip creation. Tick the Ball box to create clips for every ball (recommended), or untick Ball and use the Four, Six, Wicket and Milestone boxes to create clips only for these events. Milestones include match events such as 50s and 100s.
- Click OK.
- Open the Video main menu item and check that Capture/Edit Video and Auto Capture Video are ticked. Optionally, you can also tick Live Upload to upload auto captured fours, sixes and wickets as video highlights to the Match Centre.
While you can restrict Auto Capture to specific events, recording every ball by ticking the Ball radio option is strongly encouraged. Doing so allows the capture of non-obvious highlights (for example, dropped catches, near run-outs, or unexpected and entertaining match events). This gives you the greatest flexibility when building highlight reels later.
Once Auto Capture is enabled, clips will be recorded in the background automatically. Standard deliveries generate a 17 second clip by default, which can be seen under the Video column on the Ball by Ball panel. You can also manually replay the video of the last ball into the live stream by clicking the Last Ball button on the Streaming Overlay Control panel.
When scoring a wicket, the software creates a 37 second clips that includes the 27 seconds before the Wicket dialogue is closed by the scorer and the ten following seconds (to capture, for example, any fielding celebrations and the batter walking off).
Playing Auto Captured Clips
To play previously captured Auto Capture clips into the live stream:
- Open the Ball by Ball panel (View > Scorecard Data > Ball by Ball) and look under the Video column for each ball.
- Click the required ball row (which must have a video clip showing under the Video column).
- Click the Selected Ball button on the Streaming Overlay Control panel.
We recommend that you wait until the end of the over to play longer video clips (for example, any 37 second wicket highlights).
See Creating a Highlights Package for step-by-step instructions on creating a video highlights package using captured clips. Your highlights package can include all key events from all players in a match, or only events specific to a particular side or player.
