Live Streaming: Step 3 Streaming Features and Controls

With all preparations complete, you're now ready to begin live streaming your match. To do this, you'll need to enable several interface elements within the software that allow you to manage the stream throughout the day.

Scroll to the bottom of the page to view a video summary of the functions described in this guide.

Show Overlay on Video Display

To show the overlay (that is, the graphics over the streaming video showing the score and team details along the bottom of the screen, watermark images in the upper corners, a full-screen scoreboard and notes, activation images or videos after significant events like sixes and wickets, and ads during breaks in play) on the streaming video:

  1. Click the Settings cog icon in the top right corner of the Video Display panel (View > Video > Video Display). A menu opens.
  2. Click Show Overlay on Video Display in the menu. The overlay is added to the preview video on the Video Display panel. Note that this menu option is not available until you have recorded the toss and started play (using the Start Play button on the Play Control panel).

Show Live Streaming Controls

Next, enable the streaming control bar on the Video Display panel:

  1. Click the Settings cog icon in the top right corner of the Video Display panel (View > Video > Video Display). A menu opens.
  2. Click Show Live Streaming Controls in the menu. The live stream control bar becomes visible under the video preview on the Video Display panel. You can use the buttons on this bar to start and stop live streaming from the software, change video streaming settings, and see current streaming settings.

Show Streaming Overlay Controls

To access the streaming overlay controls that allow you to manually control the cards, still images, video files or messages shown on the streaming video:

  1. Click the Settings cog icon in the top right corner of the Video Display panel (View > Video > Video Display). A menu opens.
  2. Click Show Streaming Overlay Control in the menu. The Streaming Overlay Control panel opens in the top-right corner of the interface. Click the tab to expand it if closed. You can also access this panel using View > Video > Streaming Overlay Control.
  3. Check that the streaming overlay controls are set to Auto or Auto with Cards. These are the default settings, and will automatically cycle between cards, video footage and instant replays depending on the state of play.

Start and Control the Live Stream

To start streaming from the NV Play Cricket software:

  1. Click the Start Live Stream button on the Video Display panel's streaming control bar. The Video Consent prompt opens.
  2. Click Video Consented to confirm that you have received consent from the players and officials to stream video footage of them. The Add Live Stream to Match Centre dialogue opens.
  3. Click Yes to add the stream to the NV Play Match Centre, or No to bypass the Match Centre. A red box appears in the lower-right corner of the Video Display panel, stating "Starting Live Stream".
  4. Live streaming begins after several seconds.
    • A preview of the live stream is shown in the red thumbnail box in the bottom-right corner of the Video Display panel. This panel also shows video and image files, such as ads and activations, and replays that are not shown in the main preview window.
    • To view a larger video preview, go to View> Video > Live Streaming Output. You could, for example, drag this panel to a second monitor for a better preview of the streaming video.
    • Hide the thumbnail preview by clicking the Hide Stream Output link or show it again by clicking Show Stream Output.
    • Details of the stream are shown below the main preview panel, including your computer's CPU load and the current stream frame rate.
    • Click the Last Ball button to the right of the streaming control bar to play an instant or slow-motion video replay (Instant Replay and Slow-mo Replay) or a replay of the last ball (Last Ball or Last Ball Slow-mo). If this button isn't visible, go to Tools > Configuration > Live Streaming and tick Enable Live Stream Instant Replays under the Instant Replays section. The duration of instant replays is configured from Tools > Configuration > Live Streaming by adjusting the settings under the Instant Replays section.
    • Click the Stop Live Stream button to stop streaming video. The stream stops and the red preview box disappears.

Next, learn how to configure the on-screen graphics, overlays, advertisements and video replays that can be shown to viewers of your live stream. See Live Streaming: Step 4 Live Streaming Overlay Controls.
