This article explains how to set up your phone as a camera for use in NV Play Cricket.
In this article:
Note: The phone and computer running NV Play Cricket must be connected to the same network, either by Wi-Fi or mobile hotspot. Please ensure the devices are connected correctly before continuing.
Setup on iPhone
To set up your iPhone as an IP Camera, we recommend using the Periscope HD app. This is a third party application that allows your iPhone to broadcast an RTSP camera feed on your local wireless network or using a mobile hotspot. Periscope HD supports:
- 720p Video Streaming
- Audio and Video
- 30 Frames Per Second
The setup steps below will use Periscode HD as an example, but you may have another third party application you wish to use. Note that we are unable to offer support for third party applications.
After installing Periscope HD on your iPhone and accepting the required permissions (camera and microphone access), click on the settings cog at the bottom of the screen. Copy the 'RTSP URL' to your PC, adjust any streaming settings, and then select the back button to return to the camera screen.
In NV Play Cricket, open the tools menu, select configuration, and open the Video Capture settings tab. Add a new capture device (or edit an existing one) and select IP Camera as the device type, and enter in the RTSP URL in the Camera Address field:
NV Play Cricket will now be displaying the output from your iPhone camera.
Setup on Android
To setup your Android mobile phone as an IP Camera, we reccomend using IP Webcam. This is a third party application that supports streaming video to other devices. IP Webcam features include:
- 1080p Video Streaming
- Audio and Video
- Max frames per second (dependent on your mobile camera)
The setup steps below will use IP Webcam as an example, but you may have another third party application you wish to use. Note that we are unable to offer support for third party applications.
After installing IP Webcam on your phone, open the application. You will see a menu with many configurable settings. Adjust any settings as needed (for example, you may wish to enter the video preferences and change the video resolution, orientation, or quality settings) and then scroll down to the bottom and select 'Start Server'. If not already prompted, accept the required permissions (camera and microphone access). You will now see the camera output and HTTP/HTTPS urls at the bottom of the screen containing your phone's IP Address. Copy down the IP address and the following port number (e.g. 123.456.789.10:8080).
In NV Play Cricket, open he tools menu, select configuration, and open the Video Capture settings tab. Add a new capture device (or edit an existing one) and select IP Camera as the device type, and enter in the Camera Address "rtsp://" followed by the IP Address from above, and then add "/h264_pcs.sdp" to the end. The link should look similar to the example below:
NV Play Cricket will now be displaying the output from your Android camera.
Issues/FAQ
Periscope HD is showing 0.0.0.0 for my RTSP URL. How do I fix this?
This issue can be resolved by manually retrieving your iPhone's IP Address. To do this, go to your settings, select Wi-Fi, and select the blue information symbol next to your current Wi-Fi network. Scroll to the section titled IPv4 Address and copy down the address in the IP Address section. Re-open Periscope HD, then in NV Play Cricket enter in the IP address of your phone followed by :8554/live.sdp.
For example:
123.456.789.10:8554/live.sdp
