This guide summarises some of the questions we have been asked about video hardware features and support in NV Play Cricket for Windows.

If you have a question or issue related to video hardware that it isn't answered below, please submit a support request.

What types of cameras do you sell?

The top three kits, Elite, Specialist, and Club Elite, include the same IP camera: the Hikvision DS-2DE44251W-DE. You can view the specification sheet here: [Datasheet of DS-2DE4425IW-DE(E)_V5.6.14_20200308.pdf]

The Club Pro kit includes a Sony HDR-CX240E.

The Club kit features a basic 720p USB camera.

Do your cameras have audio?

No, audio is not built into the IP camera, it requires a separate add-on. The current supported audio add-on is the HIKVISION DS-2FP2020. You can see a setup example here (using a Jackery generator):

Examples of the audio quality in action:

This setup does not provide broadcast-quality audio and these examples illustrate the quality to expect.

Why can't my IP camera be found?

There are a variety of reasons that your IP camera might not be detected. To rule out the most common problems, follow the steps in this video guide: IP Camera Setup Guide.

If your IP camera was not purchased through NV Play, we can't offer full support. However, a common issue is that ONVIF (Open Network Video Interface Forum) support might not be enabled. This feature is required for the Search and Connect/PTZ Control functions in NV Play Cricket to work.

You can usually enable ONVIF via the camera's web interface. Refer to the camera manufacturer's website or support documentation for specific instructions.

Can I use a 4K camera?

Yes. NV Play Cricket supports a maximum of 1080p for live streaming, but ball clips and continuous video (if enabled) are captured at the source input resolution, including in 4K.

However, we haven't fully tested streaming from a 4K video input and therefore don't officially support this setup. We strongly recommend testing your 4K setup in a non-match environment before use.

Keep in mind:

  • Streaming 4K video might require significantly more internet bandwidth.
  • 4K ball clips and continuous recording files will be much larger, so ensure you have sufficient disk space.

Can I use an Apple device?

Yes. Internal testing indicates that NV Play Cricket can be installed and used on Apple computers that are:

However, we noted reduced video and live stream performance and haven't completed full testing. For those choosing to experiment, we recommend disabling the "Adaptive Hypervisor" setting in Parallels, which improves performance. More info: Parallels KB article.

As this setup is not officially supported, any use is at your own discretion. For recommendations and requirements when using an Apple computer, see Using NV Play Cricket on Apple Macs (ARM-based).
