Adding Pitch Map, Ball Arrival and Release Point visualisations to Video Package Manager

The Video Package Manager enables analysts to enrich video packages with advanced visualisations derived from analyst-generated data, Vision AI, or other data sources. This includes Pitch Map and Ball Arrival overlays, which show the location of each delivery on a static pitch image. Analysts can also create a Release Point graphic, visualising each delivery from the batter's perspective. All graphics can be generated from any query in the Multi-Match Stats Wizard and added directly to a video package.

These visualisations are a valuable coaching tool for assessing a bowler's consistency, and identifying differences between bowlers, batters, sessions, innings and so on.

Create a Release Point image in VPM

The Release Point visualisation displays the position where the bowler released each delivery. This graphic provides a clear overview of a bowler’s release consistency and can help identify variations in angle or crease usage.

Like the Pitch Map and Ball Arrival graphics, the Release Point visualisation can be created from any set of ball clips returned from the Match Stats Wizard or Multi-Match Stats Wizard.

To create a Release Point visualisation

  1. Go to Statistics Multi-Match Stats Wizard. The Select Matches dialogue opens.
  2. Filter to the Teams, Match Types, Competitions, Venues, Date Range etc that you need
  3. Select the matches you require
  4. Create a Stats Wizard query to filter the data according to your analysis needs
  5. Add your Release Point image to Video Package Manager by opening the Play Video contextual menu and selecting Add Release Point to Package
  6. A new ball clip is created and added to the Video Package Manager Timeline, containing a static image of all balls in the selected query. Note that only balls that have been coded with Release Point data (from any source) are included
  7. From Video Package Manager you can control what elements you would like to display, e.g. the Ball Arrival Grid
  8. Enable Colour by Runs / Wickets if you would like to colour the elements by runs or wickets, or disable if you would prefer the default colour scheme

The Release Point visualisation can be inserted anywhere within the video package and is often used at the start or end of a sequence of deliveries to summarise a bowler’s release consistency.

You can also use Match Stats Wizard or the Ball by Ball panel to create a Multi-Ball Tracking compilation
