Watch the video below for a brief overview of the steps needed to score a cricket match using the NV Play Cricket software.
These steps include:
1. Install and open the software
- Download and install NV Play Cricket for Windows.
- Launch the NV Play Cricket software.
- Click the Continue without Login button on the Login prompt if you don’t have any credentials.
- If you have credentials provided by your club or governing body, enter these and then click Login.
2. Create or load a match
- From the main menu, click File > New Match.
- Alternatively, click Load Match if your match has already been created (either by you at an earlier date, or by an administrator).
3. Set up clubs and teams
- From the New Match dialogue, add clubs, teams, and the players on each team. You can search for registered players or add new ones manually.
- Assign a captain, wicketkeeper, and twelfth player for each side.
- Add the start date of the match, the match type (e.g. One Day, T20, Multi-Day), and the venue.
4. Start scoring
- Once the match is set up, click Start Scoring and then Start as Local Scorer.
- Click Record Toss on the Play Control panel. Record the toss and select the winner and their playing choice.
- Select the Create First Innings checkbox and then click Save. You are ready to begin scoring the live match.
- Click Start Play on the Play Control panel when the match begins. Confirm the opening batters, the opening end for the first over, the umpire at that end, and the opening bowler.
- Use the Scoring panel to record ball-by-ball actions by clicking the Runs, Wicket, Extras, etc. buttons. Click a coloured square once to record an action and then follow the on-screen prompts to enter details as they happen. As the match progresses, the details of the match are shown on the Play Control panel.
- If you make any scoring mistakes, use the Undo button on the right end of the Play Control panel. Use this to revert the last action or delivery. To edit an earlier entry, select an entry to edit in the Ball by Ball panel and then click the Edit button on the Play Control panel to enter Edit mode (the selected action button turns yellow). Select the new entry, and then click Auto Correct to update all affected deliveries, and then click Edit again to return to Scoring mode.
- Click the Scorebook tab on the Scoreboard panel to see a traditional scorebook layout of the game, or use the Ball by Ball panel to view a detailed match history.
- When the innings ends, a notification alert opens asking if you want it to end. Click Yes. The Start Ball button on the Play Control panel changes to a Next Innings button, ready to start the next inning.
5. End and finalise the match
- When the match ends, click the End Match button on the Play Control panel.
- Finalise the scorecard, confirm results, and generate reports if needed.
- You can also manually Export the match data from the File menu (File > Export Matches) to send to another scorer, or to keep as a backup.
