Enabling Power Plays
Power Play information is only shown if the feature is enabled for the selected match type (e.g., One Day, T20).
To enable Power Plays in a supported match type:
- Open the NV Play Cricket for Windows software.
- Go to Scoring > Match Details/Teams. The Edit Match dialogue opens.
- Click the Edit button beside Match Type in the lower-left corner of the dialogue. The Edit Match Type dialogue opens.
- Tick the Use P/P box beside Power Plays in the lower-right corner of the dialogue.
- Click Save.
Types and Timing of Power Plays
Most Power Plays occur in the early overs, but Batting Power Plays may be taken later depending on the match format.
To enable Batting Power Plays:
- Open the NV Play Cricket for Windows software.
- Go to Scoring > Match Details/Teams. The Edit Match dialogue opens.
- Click the Edit button beside Match Type in the lower-left corner of the dialogue. The Edit Match Type dialogue opens.
- Tick the Batting P/P box beside Power Plays in the lower-right corner of the dialogue.
- Click Save.
If Batting Power Plays are enabled in the match type settings, NV Play Cricket allows configuration of:
- One initial Power Play.
- Up to two additional Power Plays, which can be triggered at chosen times by the batting or bowling side.
If the batting Power Play option is not enabled, the system allows for up to three fixed Power Plays, based on competition regulations.
Configuring Power Plays
After the toss and first innings are created, the Power Plays option becomes active in the Scoring menu (Scoring > Power Plays).
- Adjust start and end overs using the dropdown menus in the Power Plays dialogue.
- Power Plays don't have to be consecutive but must be listed in the order they occur.
- To remove an entry, select the blank space at the top of the dropdown list.
Adjustments for Reduced Overs
- In limited overs formats (e.g., One Day Internationals), if overs are reduced, Power Play allocations automatically adjust according to match regulations.
- Some regulations also define start and end balls for each Power Play when overs are reduced. Start and end ball fields for this are available in the configuration screen (Ball fields added to the Power Plays dialogue).
Live Power Play Display
During active Power Plays, the Main Scoreboard panel (and internal and external screens, if connected) shows:
- The current Power Play number (top-right).
- Remaining overs and balls in the Power Play.
A running total of runs and wickets during each Power Play is displayed in the Score Summary panel (View > Scoring Entry > Score Summary).
When a Power Play concludes, the software automatically adds a note to the innings summary with the totals for that period (on the Innings Notes panel).
