The End Over/Umpire Signal Button
The End Over/Umpire Signal button () is located in the lower-right corner of the Play Control panel. This button is named after its first item, End Over, and because many of the menu options it contains correspond to umpire signals. Clicking the End Over/Umpire Signal button opens a menu containing various scoring options:
The options available on this menu are:
- End Over: Used to manually end the current over immediately, even if not all legal deliveries have been recorded.
- Run Short: Activated when the umpire signals a short run. Click on this option, then select the number of runs to be added. For example, if two runs are run but one is short, only one run is added. The striker remains on strike unless specific match rules apply. A visual indicator (underlining) appears to show that the batters ended on unexpected ends.
- Batters Crossed: Used when batters end up on unexpected ends during a delivery. It applies to the next delivery in normal scoring mode.
- Illegal Ball: Marks the following delivery as not counting toward the legal ball count, although it is still recorded. Useful for no-balls and similar infractions.
- New Ball Taken: Used when the umpire signals the bowling side has taken a new ball. This is noted automatically, including the match state and overs to be tracked from that point onward.
- Replacement Ball: Used when a ball is replaced due to deterioration, though not formally signalled by the umpire. A note is added to the match log to record this.
- Start of Last Hour: Applied when the umpire signals the beginning of the final hour of play in matches with a set minimum number of overs to be bowled. A timestamped innings note is automatically recorded.
- Boundary: This option allows the scorer to indicate that the next delivery should be recorded as a boundary (four or six) and added to the striker's boundary tally.
Batters Crossed, Illegal Ball, and Boundary are classed as scoring events, and identified as such in the Ball by Ball panel.
These event classifications can also be applied retrospectively using the Edit button on the Play Control panel to enter edit mode, and then clicking the End Over/Umpire Signal button and choosing from the three options. This allows scorers to update previously recorded deliveries, e.g., noting that batters crossed on a delivery where a wicket fell. Autocorrect will reallocate subsequent deliveries accordingly.
