During a match you might need to record a dismissal involving the non-striker; most commonly a run out or run out backing up. Use the steps below to ensure the correct player and dismissal type are applied.
Record the non-striker as the dismissed batter
To recording a dismissal of the non-striker:
- Click the Wicket button on the Scoring panel. The Wicket dialogue opens.
- Click the Player Dismissed dropdown. This will default to the striker.
- Select the non-striker from the list. The Dismissal Type list automatically updates to show only valid options for a non-striker and defaults to Run Out.
- If Run Out is correct, complete the rest of the dialogue as usual.
- If another dismissal type is applicable (e.g., Run Out Backing Up (Non Delivery)), select the appropriate option first, then complete the remaining fields.
- Click OK to commit the dismissal.
If you select Run Out Backing Up (Non Delivery), the system:
- Adds a delivery entry to the Ball by Ball panel
- Excludes the delivery from the over count, in line with the Laws of Cricket
- Uses the previous delivery to calculate the fall of wicket
- Automatically selects the bowler as the primary fielder, as only they can cause this dismissal
