When to Use Match Setup
The match setup tasks described below are completed in the lower section of the New Match dialogue. The upper section of the dialogue, which includes tasks related to team setup, is covered in a separate guide: Match Setup: Setting Up Teams.
You cannot access the match setup fields until at least one club has been selected from either of the Club dropdown menus. All fields marked with a red asterisk must be completed before scoring.
Setting Up a New Match
To set up a new match:
If any of the required match entities listed below are not available in their respective dropdown menus, for example club/team names or match venues, click the Add button and add the missing items to the database. Avoid duplicating entries in your local database.
- Go to File > New Match. The New Match dialogue opens.
- Open the left Club dropdown menu and select the clubs the playing teams belong to (home team to the left, away team to the right). The match setup fields at the bottom of the dialogue are enabled.
- Open the Team dropdown menus and select the names of the teams playing the match. See Match Setup: Setting Up Teams for more information about setting up teams.
- Click the Start Date field to open a date picker. Select the date the match will take place.
- Use the Time field to set the time of day that the match will start. You can use the up/down arrows to the right of the field to adjust the hours and minutes value or select the field and type directly into it.
- Open the Time zone dropdown menu to select the local time zone of the match, if needed.
- Tick the D/N (Day/Night) box next to the start date for day/night matches. This will adjust interval names to reflect evening timings.
- Open the Competition dropdown menu and select the name of the competition. This field is optional, but assigning matches names can help you group past matches and generate statistics across a competition.
- Open the Match Type dropdown menu and select the type of match that reflects your playing regulations. For example, "Men's Twenty20 Match" or "One Day Match".
- Open the Venue dropdown menu and select the match location.
- Open the Scorer 1 and Scorer 2 dropdown menus to select match scorers, if required. These fields are optional.
- Open the Umpire 1 and Umpire 2 dropdown menus to select the match umpires, if required. These fields are optional.
- Click Start Scoring and then Start as Local Scorer. If you are connected to a Competition Management System, additional options will also be available.
