Reasons to Change Captain
You might need to change captain for the entire match if the wrong captain was selected during match setup, or for part of the match if the captain is injured, substituted, or replaced during the game.
It is best practice under these circumstances (a mid-match replacement) to record both the original and the substitute captains.
Changing the Captain
To change the team captain for the entire match, or as a mid-match replacement:
- Go to Scoring > Match Details/Teams. The Edit Match dialogue opens.
- Open the Captain dropdown box under the relevant team and select a different player. The Substitute Captain prompt opens.
- Select an option from the prompt:
- Replace for Match: Use this when the wrong person was selected at the start, and the new captain should be in charge for the entire match.
- Substitute Existing Captain: Use this when a captain is being replaced during play. Both names will then be shown in the captain field.
- Cancel: Close the dialogue without replacing the current captain.
- Click Save on the Edit Match dialogue to save and close. A note is automatically added to the Innings Notes panel logging the change.
Viewing and Editing Captaincy Substitutions
To view or amend captaincy changes:
- Go to Scoring > Match Details/Teams. The Edit Match dialogue opens.
- Click the Player/Roles Substitutions link in the bottom-left corner of the dialogue. The Player/Role Substitutions dialogue opens, showing a list of all substitutions made during the match.
- From here you can:
- Change a substitution type by clicking text under the Change Type column to open a dropdown menu and then choosing a different substitution option.
- Remove a substitution by selecting a row with your mouse and then clicking the Delete button.
- Click OK to close the Player/Role Substitutions dialogue, and then click Save to close the Edit Match dialogue. Any associated innings notes will be updated or removed to match your change.
