This guide details how to record a wicket, including handling dismissal types, fielders involved, runs/extras, and what happens after a wicket is recorded. See also Selecting the Incoming Batter.

Opening the Wicket Dialogue

When a wicket falls:

  1. Click the red Wicket button on the Scoring panel. The Wicket dialogue opens.
  2. Open the Player dropdown if you need to change the dismissed player to the non-striker. Defaults to the current striker.
  3. Open the Dismissal Type dropdown and select a dismissal type. Defaults to Caught. If the dismissed player is the non-striker, only Run Out and Obstruction are valid options.
  4. If the Dismissal Type is Caught, Run Out or Stumped, open the Primary Fielder dropdown and select the fielder primarily responsible for the dismissal.
  5. Click OK. The wicket is recorded and the Confirm Batter dialogue opens.
  6. Click OK to accept the next player in batting order or open the dropdown, select a different player, and click OK.

Adding Fielder Details

For dismissals that involve fielders, such as Caught and Run Out, add the following information to the Wicket dialogue box:

  • Player Dismissed: The name of the batter dismissed (defaults to the striker but can be changed to non-striker).
  • Dismissal Type: The type of dismissal. Defaults to Caught as this is the most common dismissal type.
  • Primary Fielder: For dismissals that involve fielders, such as Caught and Run Out, this field is mandatory. This is the player who receives the statistical credit for the dismissal. Use the Unknown option at the bottom of the Primary Fielder dropdown if the fielder is unidentified. This marks the wicket in red on the Ball by Ball panel. The fielder can be added later using edit mode.
  • Assistant Fielders: Fielders who were involved in a dismissal. These will appear in the scorecard for informational purposes but are not credited in the club's match statistics.
  • Fielding Position: Used to record the location of a catch or throw for run outs. Optional.
  • New Sub Fielder: Used when the Primary Fielder is a substitute player. Click the New Sub Fielder button, type the sub's name, and then click Save. This name appears on the scorecard but is not linked to any database record.
  • Batters Crossed: Tick this box if the batters changed ends during the dismissal. This updates the striker/non-striker field on the Play Control panel (swapping batter positions) and underlines the delivery in scoring windows and reports.
  • End Ball (0 runs/extras): Untick this box if the dismissal involves runs or extras (e.g. stumping off a wide). When you click OK with this unticked the Wicket button on the Scoring panel stays yellow, indicating that more information is needed before the wicket can be recorded. To provide this, select the appropriate runs or extras from the Scoring panel.

Wicket keepers appear at the top of all fielders lists (indicated by a + icon) as they are frequently selected.

Post-Wicket

A wicket falling is reflected in the:

  • Incoming batter (based on the Batters Crossed status) shown on the Play Control panel (either striker or non-striker).
  • This Over section (a "W" appears with any runs/extras) on the Play Control panel.
  • Ball by Ball panel (scroll right to see fielder and position).
  • Scorecard and Scorebook tabs (includes how out time of dismissal and fall of wicket).
  • Partnerships tab, where the wicket finalises the current partnership.

If the striker/non-striker appears incorrect after a wicket use the Swap Batters button on the Play Control panel.
