This guide explains how to set, adjust, and manage batting order in the NV Play Cricket for WIndows software, both during team setup and when live scoring after a toss has been recorded.

Setting Batting Order During Team Setup

It’s helpful, but not mandatory, to list players in batting order when setting up a team on the New Match dialogue (File > New Match) or when viewing an existing team setup from the Edit Match dialogue (Scoring > Match Details/Teams).

Team batting orders reflect the order in which you added players using the Add Player button and the Add Player dialogue when setting up a team.

As wickets fall, the software automatically selects the next player in the batting order (the next in the list) as the incoming batter. This selection can be manually overridden by selecting a different batter from the Confirm Batter dialogue after a dismissal.

To change the batting order during team setup:

  1. Select a player from either team list on the New Match dialogue (File > New Match).
  2. Use the up and down arrows next to the list to rearrange the player's order in the list. Once the toss is recorded, these arrows disappear, even if you reopen the Edit Match dialogue (Scoring > Match Details/Teams).

Changing Batting Order During Live Play

To adjust the batting order of the current batting side after play has started:

  1. Click the Edit Batting Order button next to the non-striker’s name on the Play Control panel. The Batting Order dialogue opens.

  2. Select a player who has not yet batted from the list. The arrows beside the list activate.

  3. Use the up and down arrows to rearrange the batting order of the selected player in the list.

If you select a player who has already batted, or is currently batting, the arrow buttons are disabled and the Swap Batter Innings button activates. This button is used to swap the selected batter with a different batter from their team. Click this button to open the Swap Player dialogue. Select a different player from the full team list dropdown, including those who have already batted, and then click OK. The two players will switch places in the batting order, along with any balls received (if applicable).

  4. Click Close to save and close the Batting Order dialogue.

You can also open the Batting Order dialogue from the Scoring menu (Scoring > Batting Order).
