This guide explains how to record a batter's retirement, covering both retired not out (injury or illness) and retired out (any other reason), as well as special cases like double retirements and pre-innings retirements.

Retirement Types
Two batter retirement types are available:
- Retired Not Out: Used when a batter leaves the field due to injury or illness, or when they intend to return as batters later in the match.
- Retired Out: Used when the batter retires for other reasons, such as part of a tactical decision.
How to Record a Retirement
To record a batter retirement:
- Click the down arrow to the right of the Wicket button on the Scoring panel and select Retirement. The Retired Batter dialogue opens.
- Click the name of the retiring player.
- Click the type of retirement, either Retired - Not Out or Retired - Out.
- Tick the Add to Previous Ball checkbox if the retirement occurred after the last recorded ball, or leave unchecked if it will be tagged together with the next delivery (you will need to record this delivery after closing the dialogue).
- Click OK to confirm the retirement and then record the next deliver, if needed, and set or accept the replacement batter. An automatic innings note will be added for the retirement on the Innings Note panel.
If the batter is Retired - Not Out they can be selected as an incoming batter later after a wicket fall or the retirement of another batter.
If they return, an innings note is created and the returning batter's innings is split by a double vertical line at the point of retirement on the Scorecard panel.
Handling Multiple Retirements (Double Retirement)
If two batters retire at the same time:
- Record the first retirement using the standard retirement process described above (How to Record a Retirement). If you don't know who the incoming batter is, use the Unknown/None button on the Confirm Batter dialogue when selecting the incoming batter.
- Click the Edit button on the Play Control panel (the Wicket button turns yellow).
- Click the down arrow on the yellow Wicket button and select Double Retirement. The Retired Batter dialogue opens.
- Select the retiring batter. Only the second batter can be chosen.
- Click the type of retirement, either Retired - Not Out or Retired - Out.
- Click OK.
- Click the yellow Edit button again to exit Edit mode.
Pre-Innings Retirement
To retire a player before the first ball:
- Start the innings (Start Play from the Scoring panel).
- Before recording a delivery, click the down arrow to the right of the Wicket button on the Scoring panel and select Retirement. The Pre-Innings Retirement dialogue opens.
- Open the Player dropdown and select the name of the retiring player.
- Open the Dismissal Type dropdown and select Retired - Out.
- Click OK. The player is marked as retired out in their allocated batting position on the Scorecard panel.
