Overview

The current Play State is always displayed in the bottom left-hand corner of the task bar. If you are connected to a competition management system, the Play State will also be visible there.

It is important that you keep updating the match Play State throughout the match, include any delays or interruptions before and during play.

Typical Play States include:

  • Pre-Toss: Before the toss is recorded.
  • Pre-Start: After the toss, before play begins.
  • In Play: Once play has started (this is the main status during live play).

Updating the Play State

To update the Play State during a match:

  1. Open the Play State dropdown menu on the Play Control panel (View > Scoring Entry > Play Control).
  2. Select an appropriate state from the list. Every update on this menu creates an innings note. These can be reviewed from the Innings Notes panel.

Resuming Play

When play resumes:

  1. Click the Start Play button (highlighted in yellow) on the Play Control panel to reactivate the Scoring panel. This automatically adds a restart time to the innings note.

To add extra details to a Play State:

  1. Open the Play State dropdown menu on the Play Control panel and select the interruption type (e.g. Rain) as normal.
  2. Reopen the Play State dropdown menu and choose Other/No Play State. The Edit Breaks dialogue opens.
  3. The previous interruption type is shown in the No Play State field (e.g. Rain). Append any additional details needed to the end of this text in the No Play State field (e.g. Rain - Inspection at 3pm). This added detail will also appear on competition management viewing sites.
  4. Click OK.

Managing End of Day and End of Innings

In multi-day matches at the close of play set the Play State to End of Day. This resets the overs remaining in the day and the day count. When play resumes the next day, normal scoring continues.

To manually end an innings (e.g. declaration):

  1. Open the Play State dropdown menu on the Play Control panel and select End of Innings. The End Innings dialogue opens.
  2. Choose the reason for ending the innings.
  3. Click Save.
