Overview

A concussion substitute can be used if a player sustains a head injury during a match. This type of replacement must be approved by umpires or the match referee, and any replacement player must have a similar ability and playing style to the injured player.

Concussion substitutes are fully active players and are therefore allowed to bat and bowl.

How to Record a Concussion Substitution

To substitute a player during a match because of a head injury:

  1. Go to Scoring > Match Details/Teams. The Edit Match dialogue opens.
  2. Select the injured player you want to substitute from the team list.
  3. Click the arrow on the Replace button beneath the relevant team panel. A menu opens.
  4. Click the Concussion Substitute option on the menu. The Concussion Substitute dialogue opens.
  5. Select the replacement player from the list. If they aren't listed, click Show All Players to access players from other teams or outside the default squad.
  6. Click the Add button (or double-click the player in the list). The new player is added to the bottom of the players list and substituted player is greyed out.
  7. Click Save to save your change and close the Edit Match dialogue. The new player becomes available for selection and is eligible to bat or bowl. The injured player remains on the scorecard for reference but is no longer available for selection. An innings note is created noting the substitution.

The other options under the Replace button (Replace and Substitute) are related to player substitutions (e.g. due to incorrect selection or absence) and are covered in separate guides.

Managing Substitution Records

To review or update substitutions:

  1. Go to Scoring > Match Details/Teams. The Edit Match dialogue opens.
  2. Click the Player/Role Substitutions link at the bottom-left corner of the Edit Match dialogue. The Player/Role Substitutions dialogue opens. On this dialogue you can:
    • Change the substitution type by double-clicking a Change Type column field to open a menu and then select another option.
    • Remove a substitution by selecting it from those listed and then clicking the Delete button. This re-enables the original player for participation.
  3. Click OK to close the Player/Role Substitutions dialogue.
  4. Click Save to save your edits and close the Edit Match dialogue. Relevant innings notes will be updated or deleted to match your changes.
