Duckworth-Lewis-Stern: Displaying DLS on a Scoreboard

This guide explains how DLS Par Scores are displayed on the Main Scoreboard panel, and on external electronic scoreboards (if being used, and that include a DLS field) during the second innings of a match and how to configure the display settings appropriately.

Overview

DLS par scores are only shown during the second innings of a match. They appear on the Main Scoreboard panel and on external electronic scoreboards that support a DLS field.

Setting the Display Frequency

To configure how often the DLS Par Score field is updated on scoreboards:

  1. Click the DLS Par text link on the Score Summary panel. The Duckworth-Lewis-Stern Par Score Table dialogue opens.
  2. Open the Scoreboard Display dropdown menu and select a display option. Available options are:
    • Current Par: Par Score for the ball just bowled.
    • End of Ball: Par Score for the upcoming delivery.
    • End of Over: This is the recommended setting and shows the Par Score for the end of the current over, or the end of the next over if you are currently between overs.
  3. Click OK. The change is saved, and the Duckworth-Lewis-Stern Par Score Table closes. The DLS Par display frequency is updated on the Main Scoreboard panel, and on any external electronic scoreboards. The DLS Par frequency shown beside the DLS Par text on the Score Summary panel is fixed to show the Current Par after the last delivery.

External scoreboards should ideally be set to show a future Par Score (End of Ball or End of Over). This helps players and officials know the score to aim for as play progresses.

Handling Interruptions

If you use the Play State dropdown menu on the Play Control panel to record an interruption during the second innings:

  • The DLS value on the Main Scoreboard panel will temporarily roll back to reflect the current par shown in the Score Summary panel. This ensures that the DLS situation for the current state of play is visible.
  • Once play resumes, the Main Scoreboard panel's DLS value reverts to the configured display frequency automatically.
