Team Setup Overview

The team setup tasks described below are completed in the upper section of the New Match dialogue. The lower section of the dialogue, which includes tasks related to match setup, is covered in a separate guide: Match Setup: Creating a New Match. If you haven't set up the match, you should do this first.

Setting Up Teams

To set up the teams that will play in a new match:

If any of the required match entities listed below are not available in their respective dropdown menus, for example club/team names or match venues, click the Add button and add the missing items to the database. Avoid duplicating entries in your local database.

  1. Go to File > New Match. The New Match dialogue opens. The home team column is shown to the left, and the away team column to the right.
  2. Open the left Club dropdown menu and select the home team's club. If the required club is not in your local database, click the Add button by the left Club dropdown and fill in all fields marked with a red asterisk, then click Save.
  3. Open the left Team dropdown menu and select the name of the home team. If the team is not in your local database, click the Add button by the left Team dropdown and fill in all fields marked with a red asterisk, then click Save. If you haven’t scored this team before, the player list will be empty. If you have, then the list will pre-populate using the players from their last match in your local database. A yellow warning triangle indicates that players were carried over.
  4. Open the right Club dropdown menu and select the away team's club. If the required club is not in your local database, click the Add button by the right Club dropdown and fill in all fields marked with a red asterisk, then click Save.
  5. Open the right Team dropdown menu and select the name of the away team. If the required team is not in your local database, click the Add button by the right Team dropdown and fill in all fields marked with a red asterisk, then click Save. If you haven’t scored this team before, the player list will be empty. If you have, then the list will pre-populate using the players from their last match in your local database. A yellow warning triangle indicates that players were carried over.
  6. Manage the list of home and away players as needed:
    • Add a player to a team by clicking Add Player under the team list, select a player, then click Add. Alternatively, double-click on a player's name to add them. If a player is not visible on the Add Player dialogue, type part of their name into the Name field to search. Click Show All Players to search across your entire database, including players from other teams.
    • Edit player details by selecting the player from the list then clicking Edit. The Edit Player dialogue opens. Make the required changes to the player's details in your database and then click Save.
    • Remove players by select the player then clicking Remove.
    • Replace a player by selecting the current player, then clicking Replace. Select the new player, then click Add.
    • Edit players' short names by double-clicking under the Short Name column and typing a new name. This is useful when multiple players have the same name. Any edits here are temporary, and applied only to this match, as indicated by a change to red text.
    • Edit players' shirt numbers by double-clicking under the Shirt # column and changing the number. Any edits here are temporary, and applied only to this match, as indicated by a change to red text.
  7. Open the left Captain dropdown menu and select the player who will captain the home team, then repeat using the right Captain dropdown menu to select the captain of the away team.
  8. Open the left Wicketkeeper dropdown menu and select the wicketkeeper for the home team, then repeat using the right Wicketkeeper dropdown menu to select the wicketkeeper for the away team.
  9. Open the Twelfth Player dropdown to add squad members who are not playing (they will be excluded from batting and bowling options). These fields are optional.
  10. Complete the match details at the bottom of the dialogue. See Match Setup: Creating a New Match for more information about setting up a match.
  11. Click Start Scoring and then Start as Local Scorer. If you are connected to a Competition Management System, additional options will also be available.

Hover your mouse over a player's name in the players list to see their profile and performance from the last five matches.
