This guide explains how to begin play by confirming the opening batters, opening bowler, and umpires, allowing the Scoring panel interface to activate ready for scoring to begin.

Starting the Match
To start a match:
- Once the opening batters and bowler are known, click the Start Play button on the Play Control panel. The Confirm Batters dialogue opens. See Missing Prompts? if you are not prompted.
- Confirm the opening batters shown in the Striker and Non-striker dropdowns by clicking OK or open the dropdown menus to select the correct players. The Opening End dialogue opens.
- Choose the opening end for the first over at the top of the Opening End dialogue. If umpires were specified during match setup, select the umpire who will be at the opening end at the bottom of the dialogue, then click OK. The Confirm Bowler dialogue opens.
- Open the dropdown list and choose the opening bowler, then click OK. Players are listed in reverse batting order to make bowler selection quicker. The buttons and tools required to begin scoring the match activate on the Scoring panel.
Change Opening End or Umpire
To change the opening end or standing umpire:
- Go to Scoring > Open End. The Opening End dialogue opens.
- Edit the opening end of the first over, or the umpire at that end.
- Click OK to save you changes and close the dialogue.
Missing Prompts?
If you were not prompted to confirm the opening batters or the bowler, you can change your bowler and batter confirmation preferences:
- Go to Tools > Configuration. The Configuration dialogue opens.
- Click the Scoring tab.
- Change the options specified under the Bowler Confirmation Prompt and Batter Confirmation Prompt sections to set how often you'd like these reminders to appear.
- Click OK to save your updated preferences.
